Indonesia is
an island country in South-east Asia and Oceania. Its
name delives from Greek words Indos (Ἰνδός) and nesos
(νῆσος). This means “Island India''.The country is
divided into 34 provinces, situated on 17 508
islands. The Equator crosses it. The most western point
is at longitude 95° east on the island of Sumatra. The
easternmost point is at longitude
142° east on the island of New Guinea. Although this
state is an island one, it has 2 land boundaries – with
Papua New Guinea and Eastern Timor. Indonesia is the 14th
largest state on Earth.
